Be among the first to experience the incredible American Wing transformation! Walk up the grand staircase, through the Merrick Historic Entrance—reopening for the first time in 30 years, before discovering the beautifully renovated galleries of the Dorothy McIlvain Scott American Wing. From the grand columned center court adorned with the original chandeliers, peruse the gorgeous galleries featuring thematic displays that highlight the unique qualities of the BMA’s outstanding collection of American paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts.
This exclusive Member event will feature the bright and lively renditions of traditional Appalachian old-time music by Ken and Brad Kolodner. Local stained glass artists from The Artists’ Corner will share their work and discuss the influence of Louis Comfort Tiffany. After stopping by the demonstration, you can practice your craft at the stained glass art activity! Or you can pursue more adult tastes at the bourbon tasting, available for an additional cost.
Saturday, November 22, 7-8 p.m.
Hear an inspiring introduction to the American collection from Senior Curator David Park Curry in the BMA's Meyerhoff Auditorium; enjoy a special gallery viewing before the party; and toast the evening with a free glass of champagne. Open to Contributor Members ($150+) and above. Upgrade to attend!
The NEW BMA Shop, located inside the transformed east entrance, will have a selection bigger and better than ever! Discover a wider and more open shop with a large central island of elegant jewelry. Nesting tables and cubes of blond and dark woods will display an ever-changing selection of art-inspired gifts and only-at-the BMA finds. Also look for new dedicated tables for books, a wide array of reproductions from the collection, and a cheerful area for children's items. Last but not least, patient friends of shoppers will appreciate the addition of seating!
