A particular honor for the six finalists for The Janet & Walter Sondheim Prize is the opportunity to exhibit their work at the BMA, according to Washington Post art critic Michael O’Sullivan, writing in 2007. In reviewing the installation by 2009 winner Baltimore Development Cooperative, Blake Gopnik applauded the BMA for “…a history of encouraging the most probing art”—a characteristic of the 2009 finalists’ work also noted by the BmoreArt Blog.
