The book, co-published by the BMA and MIT Press to coincide with the first U.S. retrospective of Austrian artist Franz West, mixes intense visual content with critical commentary, an interview with the artist, a section on West's working methods, an artist's response to the work through words and images, and an extensive chronology and bibliography. Darsie Alexander was Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the BMA; Tom Eccles is Executive Director of the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College; Rachel Harrison is an artist who lives and works in New York City; and Eric Banks is former editor-in-chief of Bookforum.
