Purchased with funds from the Anna Elizabeth Fehl Acquisitions Endowment, this Grace Hartigan painting is an early example of the artist’s Abstract Expressionist exploration of collage. In this work, Hartigan rhythmically mingles fragments of text from newspapers and commercial packaging with energetic blocks of color.
