This ambitious image by John Henry Way reveals the exuberant sense of abundance that permeated late 19th-century Baltimore. Immensely popular with the city’s thriving collectors, canvases by Way graced many a local parlor, but this one—Way’s largest—descended in the artist’s family until it was acquired by Stiles Colwill, Chair of the BMA’s Board of Trustees.
