Dr. Gilbert and Jean Jackson have passionately collected African art with a special interest in central Africa for 30 years. This hat, adorned with buttons, plaited raffia, and cowrie and mussel shells, was worn by a high-ranking member of the Bwami society, a foundation of Lega communities.
