Iris and B. Gerald Cantor had formed the most comprehensive private collection of works by Auguste Rodin when in 1980 they began generously sharing it with the public through donations to more than 70 museums. In 2009, the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation continued this munificent practice, giving the BMA this striking bronze sculpture of high-kicking dancers by Auguste Rodin.
