Through the generosity of Dr. Peyton Eggleston, who has long been interested in the graphic work of 20th century American artists, the Museum has recently acquired an outstanding example of one of Chuck Close’s large-scale portrait prints. Here Close collaborated with master printer Karl Hecksher to simulate his abstract system of mark making through a woodblock composed of multiple parts.
