German etcher Horst Janssen’s expressive portrait of Edgar Allan Poe is one among many he created featuring famous authors and composers, and it is the first work by the artist to enter the collection. It was purchased in memory of BMA Director Doreen Bolger’s mother, Alice Bolger, who died in late 2009, with funds given by friends, staff, and Museum Trustees.
