BMA Begins Much-Anticipated Renovation

BMA Appoints Project Management Firm

The BMA's Board of Trustees today appointed Columbia, Maryland-based Synthesis, Inc., as project manager for its three-year $24 million capital renovation project. Synthesis will coordinate the selection of the architect and construction management firms and assist the Museum in successfully completing the project on schedule and on budget.

BMA Announces $24 Million Capital Renovation Project

Thanks to a $10 million multi-year commitment from the State of Maryland, the BMA today announced it is beginning a $24 million capital renovation project. The project includes renovating galleries for three major art collections—Contemporary, American, and African—as well as improving visitor amenities and upgrading essential infrastructure.

The BMA Receives Major Gift of Matisse Prints from The Pierre and Maria-Gaetana Matisse Foundation

The Baltimore Museum of Art today announced that its world-renowned collection of works by French artist Henri Matisse is expanding significantly with a major gift of 77 prints from The Pierre and Maria-Gaetana Matisse Foundation in New York. This promised gift comes from the collection of Pierre Matisse (1900-89), the artist’s son. The Matisse Foundation has also supported the Matisse: Painter as Sculptor exhibition that opens at the BMA on October 28.

BMA Receives $5 Million Endowment Gift

The Baltimore Museum of Art announced today that it has received a $5 million gift from an anonymous donor to endow the position of the Museum’s Director. This important gift establishes the first permanent endowment fund for the Museum’s top executive, and is also the second largest individual gift in the BMA’s history.
