Seminar Series 1: Session 1

Senior Curator Jay Fisher will focus on Matisse’s artist books. This intimate presentation in the BMA’s Samuel H. Kress Foundation Study Center will delve into the holdings of Matisse books in the BMA’s collection, including unique and rarely seen works.

Earle Havens, The William Kurrelmeyer Curator of Rare Books & Manuscripts at The Johns Hopkins University, will showcase rare books and collection highlights at the Homewood Campus libraries.

Associate Curator Ann Shafer will focus on prints by the influential printmaker Stanley William Hayter and his colleagues at Atelier 17. Highlights from the BMA’s collection of Atelier 17 prints will be seen, including some recent acquisitions in the BMA’s Samuel H. Kress Foundation Study Center.
