Albrecht Dürer is renowned as one of the great artists of the Renaissance, and his St. Jerome in His Study is one of his most important prints.
Domenicus Rottenhammer painted this impression of Dürers engraving around 1600. He used transparent paints that do not obscure the varied textures and tonalities created by Dürers lines. Instead, the vibrant palette of red, blue, yellow, pink, and violet enhance the atmosphere of the saints study.
