 The pigments used to color a painted impression of Albrect Dürer’s print Christ Presented to the People from the Large Passion were identified using an analytical technique known as X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF). The pigments identified on this print are the same as those that were commonly used by European artists during the fifteenth, sixteenth, and seventeenth centuries.
