BMA Issues Call for Sound Artists for New Smartphone Tour

The BMA is inviting sound artists/musicians to create an original composition for inclusion in a new smartphone tour. There will be 3-5 sound artists/musicians selected and each selected sound artist/musician will be awarded a $300 cash prize, permanent recognition in the mobile tour, and an opportunity to perform at the BMA as part of the contemporary collection re-opening celebrations.

BMA Receives Major Gift of Works by Morris Louis

The BMA announced today that it has recently acquired 21 works by Baltimore-born artist Morris Louis, including the landmark paintings Silver III, 1953, and Untitled 5-76, 1956, and 19 ink drawings. The works are a gift of the estate of the artist’s widow, Marcella Louis Brenner. The Louis works are among 2,185 gifts of art that have been added to the BMA’s collection as part of the ongoing In New Light Campaign, the largest philanthropic effort in the Museum’s history. Baltimore Contemporary Print Fair

This spring, the BMA brings 20 presses, printers, and galleries from around the U.S. for the Baltimore Contemporary Print Fair. Held April 28-29, 2012, this biennial event provides new and established collectors the opportunity to peruse and purchase limited editions, single prints, portfolios, photographs, and drawings by artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Jasper Johns, Ellsworth Kelly, Faith Ringgold, Richard Serra, and Kiki Smith.
