Physical Qualities Cotton, (including fringe): 50 3/8 × 60 7/16 in. (128 × 153.5 cm.)
Credit Line Gift of Robert and Mary Cumming, Baltimore
Object Number 1995.212
Soft and supple, this blanket must have provided great comfort to its owners over time. The irregularity of handspun cotton threads lends a rich and soothing texture to this woven cover. Its weaver artist strategically arranged threads dyed from varying strengths of indigo dye to create a pleasing checkered pattern that gradually transitions from dark to pale blues.
Purchased by donors on trip to Ivory Coast in January 1994.
