General admission to the BMA is always free. Please reserve a free general admission ticket before entering the Museum’s galleries. Tickets can be reserved online or at the Welcome Desk and will be accompanied by a short survey to help us better understand our visitors.
While general admission is free, special exhibitions require a separate ticket.
The BMA galleries and BMA Shop are open Wednesday–Sunday from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m.–9 p.m.
The Sculpture Gardens and Spring House are open from 10 a.m. to dusk, weather permitting, but may close during storms or extreme heat or cold for the safety of visitors, staff, and the art. Plan your visit.

Parking is available in the BMA East and West lots, both of which include wheelchair‑accessible spaces.
Additional parking is available at The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) South Garage, a large underground facility accessed from Wyman Park Drive (between San Martin Drive and Art Museum Drive). Limited on‑street metered parking is also available on Art Museum Drive.

Yes. Groups are welcome to explore the galleries on their own or enjoy a guided tour. If your group includes eight or more people, please reach out to our Visitor Experience team at visitorexperience@artbma.org or call 443‑573‑1701 for information about group policies. We regularly rotate artworks and refresh our galleries to make your experience at the BMA even better. If you’re planning a visit to see a specific artwork or gallery, we recommend calling 443‑573‑1701 to confirm its availability.
We know it’s tempting, but please remember to look with your eyes, and not your hands! Only touch an artwork if a sign says it is okay to do so. This helps keep the art safe for everyone to enjoy.

All backpacks, backpack baby carriers, diaper bags, packages, laptops, and items larger than 11 × 15 inches must be checked in our Checkroom. Locker space is limited.
For the safety and comfort of all visitors, oversized bags and luggage that cannot fit in our lockers must be placed in designated Museum storage areas. Please note that these areas are out of public view but are not locked or supervised.

Sorry, eating and drinking are not permitted in the BMA galleries.
Yes, we do! A water fountain and bottle filler are located near the East Lobby restrooms. Guests are welcome to enjoy water and other beverages in the Segal East Lobby, however water bottles are not permitted in the galleries. You may store your bottle or beverage in our free lockers during your visit.

BMA Lexington Market is a branch of the Baltimore Museum of Art located inside America’s oldest public market. Visit our stall in the Upper Market, near the Baltimore Room at 112 N. Eutaw Street, every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Yes! Restrooms are located on the first and second floors of the Museum. All first‑floor restrooms are fully accessible; the multi‑stall restrooms by the Cone Wing are not yet accessible.
Gender diversity is welcome in all restrooms throughout the Museum. Visitors are encouraged to use the restroom that most comfortably meets their needs.
Yes. The Quiet Room in the Joseph Education Center provides a welcoming, sensory‑friendly space for all visitors who may need a moment to relax, decompress, nurse, or pray.
The Insight Lab gallery in the Joseph Education Center also offers a quiet space for contemplation and reading, featuring art‑inspired books for all ages and abilities, including picture, audio, and braille books for children.
Gertrude’s Chesapeake Kitchen serves farm‑fresh Chesapeake cuisine with views of the BMA’s Sculpture Garden. Book a table for lunch or dinner, order carryout, or enjoy a menu of seasonal snacks and drinks from the Cone Sisters Garden Café kiosk in the Segal East Lobby.
We have an amazing gift shop! Browse our selection of books, apparel, jewelry, and more Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday evenings until 9 p.m. Learn more about the BMA Shop.
Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the Checkroom located in the Segal East Lobby.
The Zamoiski East Entrance features a ramp for mobility aids and strollers. From this entrance, visitors can use two elevators to reach the second floor—one in the Segal East Lobby and one adjacent to the Nancy Dorman and Stanley Mazaroff Center for the Study of Prints, Drawings and Photographs. An additional elevator in the Contemporary Wing provides access from the second floor to the third‑floor galleries.
Large‐print labels are available in print and digital versions in select galleries or by request at education@artbma.org. Select galleries provide magnifiers and are available upon request at the Welcome Desk in the Segal East Lobby.
Four accessible parking spaces outside the Zamoiski East Entrance are available to visitors. If all designated accessible spots are occupied, then visitors with accessible tags may park in any BMA visitor lot space, and their parking will be complimentary.
Assistive listening devices are available for programs in the Meyerhoff Auditorium. To request these services, email education@artbma.org.
Audio tours, videos, and additional learning resources are available on the BMA’s Digital Guides page and Bloomberg Connects app.
At this time, we do not provide headphones or mobile devices for audio tours. We encourage visitors to use their own devices to enjoy our digital audio guides during their visit.

Professional photography anywhere on Museum property must be approved in advance. For more information and to apply for approval, please contact rentals@artbma.org.
Sketching is welcome in the collection galleries with pencil only. To use other media, you must obtain advance permission by calling 443-573-1730.
When sketching, paper or sketchbooks should not exceed 12 x 18 inches. Please be considerate of the other visitors and do not obstruct traffic flow or sit on the floor.
