Probably made in Holland or Germany, this dignified silver cow dispensed cream at the breakfast table. It is considerably more realistic than earlier cow creamers, which followed the whimsical, almost cartoonish form of the ceramic pitcher on view nearby. The image of a fly regularly appears on cow creamers, reminding us that flies were long associated with the dairy trade.
