Peter Behren’s print "The Kiss", in which the heads of two androgynous figures are encircled by the serpentine and intertwined locks of their hair, quickly became one of the images most frequently associated with Art Nouveau. The image was published in the German avantgarde journal "Pan", an important precursor to the Austrian publication "Sacred Spring".
