Presumably from perm AAAPI installation 1984-2012: "Lime is burned and powdered shell or coral which, when chewed with the seed of the areca palm. produces a nicotine-like stimulus. Lime containers and their stoppers can be made of bamboo segments, gourds, or other materials. They can be plain or ornamented with incising, pyrography, pigments, plaited fibers, and shells. Stoppers may be decorated with elaborate finials."
